A young woman with long, wavy blonde hair is sitting on the ground in a sunflower field. She is wearing a brown crop top and denim shorts, exposing her midriff and legs. The woman is holding a large sunflower in front of her face, partially obscuring it. The sunflower field stretches out behind her, with a dirt path winding through it. The sky is partly cloudy, with a blue and white hazy appearance, providing a soft, diffused natural light. The image has a warm, dreamy and summery vibe.

5 Unexpected Things About Visiting Oahu

Have you ever visited somewhere and been totally blown away by the silliest things that you didn’t expect? Hawaii has sure had a few mind boggling things that really threw me off my rocker so I thought I would share them with you so you know for your visit! (Save this post to remember these interesting things when visiting Oahu!) 1️⃣ TRAFFIC-I absolutely expected traffic because people live here and it’s pretty much a guarantee that there will be traffic where loads of people live, but my goodness yall, there is traffic here! 2️⃣NICEST DRIVERS-Even though traffic can be a bit insane everyone is super nice and not aggressive while driving. When you put your blinker on people actually slow down and let you over! 🤯 And they are super aware of people making left hand turns that is stopping other traffic, so they will stop and let you go so traffic can keep flowing! 3️⃣HOW TINY AND BIG THE ISLAND FEELS-It’s an island and definitely one of the smaller ones but taking 30-40 minutes to drive to an epic adventure is so different and refreshing compared to the 1-3hr drive times for adventures back home. Even though it doesn’t take long to go on an adventure it is mind boggling how much there is to do! You can hike on one side of the island in the morning, snorkel on another side after, watch sunset in a different direction, and get dinner in Waikiki all in one day 🤯 4️⃣WEATHER-Colorado is pretty wild in the grand scheme of weather and changing from snow to sunshine in 5 minutes but Oahu is pretty dang similar. No there isn’t snow on this island (there is on the big island though!) but if you wanted sunshine and it’s not sunny where you are, just driving a few minutes to the sunshine and warm water! It’s so freaking neat! 5️⃣THE SWEETS-I am not a foodie in anyway or a sweets person in general nor did I know that Hawaii had so many delicious sweets to try, but every single sweet treat I have tried has been SO GOOD! Nothing has left me with that awful sugar mouth and throat feeling (please let me know I’m not alone in feeling that 🙋🏼‍♀️) or given me a sugar crash. Idk what they use or if their is anything different at all but my goodness the sweets are so good!
