The Challenges of Modern Victimhood
Victimhood is trendy. -
Let me first start by prefacing, this is not a political statement, I try to keep politics off of this page because you get enough of that everywhere else. This is a general people statement. -
For years real victims have been bullied, shamed, and blamed which worsens the effects of their experience, however over the past 50 years, and especially the last 10, theres been a complete flip where victims are actually a protected and aggressive class in our society. It almost seems that people look for reasons to be compromised. Now to clarify, I totally understands that there are plenty of actual victims in this world that require help and magnifying their issue helps bring it to lights. That’s not what I’m talking about. What I’m talking about is people creating a problem out of something that really isn’t to begin with to make a scene. -
Instead of dealing with our problems head on, face to face, it’s much easier to post something on social media for the whole world to see. It’s easy to hide behind a screen. It’s easy to make claims without approaching the offending party like a strong independent person and let the mob take them down. -
Furthermore the statements these supposed victims make, oftentimes make the supposed offender a victim to unnecessary abuse by people that often know very little about the situation. So why do people want to be a victim? -
Well besides the attention and monetary gain, why wouldn’t you? When there are so many benefits attached to being a victim, it’s no surprise that more and more people would want to find a way to be one. Acknowledging a history of being compromised is one thing, but the only way to grow as a human is to go through adversity and face your struggles. The only way you ever get better is by overcoming. -
So why do I bring this up? These days there’s so many reasons to be offended, to be triggered, to be a victim, but it’s not until as a people we stop being petty and making private issues public, that we will see peace. The goal should not be to avoid pain, but to learn to move forward with life after it. -
Be blessed and stay stoked 😎🤙
