STORY TIME: While shooting for a resort in St. Lucia I was hired to shoot underwater content and water sports activities (in addition to other resort content). The first day went amazing. The second day though, we took out a sailboat and didn’t have enough experience. I jumped in the water to get some shots on the GoPro while Abby was on the boat. Just then a rogue wave came and capsized the boat close to the reef. The mast narrowly missed hitting Abby and the housing was out of sight. After making sure she was ok we worked on getting the boat tipped back over, but at that point we had drifted far into the island and had no real perspective on where the camera landed. We spent about 3 hours diving around trying to find the housing and a scuba team even helped for a few days. Unfortunately the housing was never found (I joke that it’s probably a crabs house now lol). Not only did I lose over 6k worth of gear but was also down to 1 camera and no wide lens. I made it work and I’m still happy with the images but I hope you learn from my mistake because that was the most stressful few days of my career haha. Note to self, always have a tie down for the housing when on a boat and always have a backup setup! Be blessed and stay stoked 😎🤙 • • • • • #hotelsandresorts #visitstlucia #sandals #sandalsresorts #beautifuldestinations #travelandleisure #stlucia #complexphotos #kings_shots #bestintravel #hawaiiphotographer #beach #resort #hotels
