A lone person stands in awe amidst the breathtaking grandeur of a narrow sandstone canyon. Towering red-hued rock formations, sculpted by eons of erosion, rise majestically around them, creating a natural amphitheater of striking beauty. The person appears dwarfed by the immense scale of the canyon walls, which are streaked with vivid colors ranging from deep crimson to warm ochre, reflecting the play of sunlight on the sedimentary layers. A shallow stream winds its way through the canyon floor, its gently rippling waters mirroring the celestial hues of the surrounding rock formations. Patches of snow and ice add contrast to the scene, hinting at the frigid temperatures that must have prevailed in this remote wilderness.

Transcendent Canyon Moments

The power of the present moment was palpable throughout this 21 day rafting journey. Every day away from civilization and further down the canyon offered experiences deeper into ourselves, into our connection with everything. We do not remember days, we remember moments. This experience was ripe with moments bursting with energy, color, consciousness, and awe. My journal literally took a swim when the raft my belongings were strapped to flipped on a level 8 rapid. While it’s pages bled the ink and notes I took, my memories are as vibrant as ever because I have never felt so awake, free of all the distractions of our noisy lives in the real world. “keep me here in this wild present tense”
