A serene and breathtaking scene unfolds in a narrow canyon, where towering red-hued rock formations rise majestically on either side, creating a striking contrast against the clear blue sky. The canyon walls display intricate layers and textures formed over millennia by the forces of nature. In the foreground, a placid river meanders through the canyon, reflecting the surrounding grandeur in its calm waters. Several inflatable rafts and kayaks are seen floating on the river, carrying adventurous explorers on a journey through this natural wonder. The image captures the awe-inspiring beauty of the great outdoors and invites viewers to experience the thrill of navigating these ancient waterways amidst the stunning geological formations.

Rafting Through Narrow Canyons

“Lazy river days” were anything but lazy. Our 9 person crew loaded and unloaded a full kitchen and all of our gear as well as the “groover” each of the 21 days. My favorite chore was the Groover (the shitter lol), because it was much easier than cooking or dishes, which we rotated every day. Chores were carried out by “camp day” so cooking was dinner, breakfast (at first light which got earlier each morning) and lunch. It was really neat to see how careful and prepared we were to not leave any trace behind, including micro debris like crumbs or human waste (“bring out your dead!”). I developed some incredible habits on this adventure and while my hands were destroyed and my body ached, I am now so much stronger than before and able to do so much more in the future.
