The Beauty of Vacilando: Embracing the Journey

One of the most beautiful words in the Spanish language to me is Vacilando. Its a verb that means to wander or travel with the knowledge that the journey is more important than the destination. On this particular backpacking trip, we summited a gorgeous peak, camped along beautiful lakes... but the best part was the memories along the journey. The peak was hardly meaningful as every step creating memories in miles with friends. As I travel, I try not to focus too much on where I'm going or why. I live for the serendipitous moments along the road, the people I meet, the opportunities to deviate from plan and the details of the journey. Maybe it's because I'm Latina, or maybe Its because the sweetness of life flourishes in the moments between the valleys and the peaks as we Vacilando this world. There's only one way to find out.
