The clouds cleared below us at Karanga Camp, and gave us this great view of the city of #Moshi below us. One more day to base camp.

The rock I am standing on was cell phone rock. I’m just calling it that because there was reception here, so people kept scrambling up to text their loved ones that they’re fine.
••
However, I kind of enjoyed being completely disconnected. I would walk up, text my mom I’m safe and healthy, then walk back down and leave the world of e-mails and voicemails (still, in 2018 🙄) and the outside world intruding on my disconnected, relaxing cocoon of simplicity behind me.
••
Wake up at dawn, eat, hike, eat, chat and laugh, read, sleep. It’s a beautiful life up there. ❤️
