A stunning nighttime view of the city of Mytilene on the Greek island of Lesvos. The scene captures the historic architecture and buildings lining the waterfront, illuminated by warm lighting. A majestic domed church with a distinctive yellow roof and bell tower stands prominently in the center, reflecting in the calm waters below. The buildings feature a blend of classical and neoclassical styles, with arched windows and intricate details. Cafes and restaurants line the promenade, creating a vibrant and inviting atmosphere. The image is a picturesque representation of the island's rich cultural heritage and charm.

Night falls in Mytilene, Lesvos. I visited #Lesvos for the first time ten days ago. It doesn’t top most tourists’ lists - and that’s actually a shame because there are a lot of incredible things to discover here. The third biggest island in Greece, with a pretty large permanent population (115,000), Lesvos or Lesbos is known for its ouzo, being the birthplace of ancient sexually ambiguous poet Sappho (hence the origin of the word “lesbian”), and more recently, for the countless Syrian refugees who sought shelter here after crossing the water from nearby Turkey (just 11-12 km, or around 7 miles distance between the nearest points). I will get into all of the above in a post, but Lesvos has so many incredible things to offer: an ancient petrified forest, a gorgeous castle town perched high up on its coast, old aristocratic manors, traditional cafes, stunning small towns. You know there’s nothing I love more than busting peoples’ stereotypes about a place, or showing off places people barely know at all. So get ready for a bunch of content from my 16th Greek island visited. #losethemap . . . . . . #lesvos #lesvosisland #mytilene #aegean #discovergreece #nightshots #travelstoke #gltlove #greecetravel #greece🇬🇷
