I don’t know if I’ve adequately explained how beautiful I found San Miguel de Allende. So I’m going to keep offering photographic proof.

All jokes aside though, it’s a shame that a country like #Mexico sometimes suffers from such negative perceptions of crime and safety that tourism to the whole country is slashed.

There are definitely areas, especially near the border and other places, where you don’t want to go (and most Mexicans don’t want to be either).
••
But San Miguel, like a good percentage of #México, is as safe (if not safer) than the average US city. And so worth seeing.

If you really want to find out the situation on the ground somewhere, ask around. Sites like #Trippy are great places to ask locals, expats, and frequent visitors to an area you want to visit what crime is really like and what safety precautions you should take. So visit away!
