Finally got to the island of Hydra this year! Ύδρα in Greek.

Hydra is known for not allowing cars, as the main town is mainly pedestrian only (with the exception of a couple of emergency and sanitation vehicles).

Just over an hour ferry ride from Athens, Hydra is usually chosen for day trips, but I highly recommend staying the night. Don’t expect crazy nightlife - the island has a calmer, cozier, more refined vibe than places like Mykonos or Ios - but the serenity of the evening in Hydra, seeing the sun set over the port and hills while enjoying some ouzo and delicious seafood, without hearing a single car engine, instead listening to music and the sea, is absolutely mesmerizing.
