A young woman with long, flowing red hair is standing on the deck of a ship or boat, overlooking the vast expanse of the sea. She is wearing a navy blue sweater and light-colored jeans, carrying a camera in her hands, suggesting she is a photographer or traveler capturing the breathtaking scenery. The setting sun is casting a warm, golden glow over the scene, painting the sky with hues of oranges and pinks. The horizon stretches out endlessly, with the sun dipping below the distant hills or mountains, creating a serene and tranquil atmosphere.

Every year I come back to Greece, things have changed. We grow, we mature, neighborhoods remake themselves into something new, old haunts close down. Friends I used to meet for drinking and dancing till 5, I now attend their beautiful weddings, hear their enthusiasm about their passions and work, watch their children grow. And still occasionally drink and dance till 5. Just not as often. •• We reminisce about young, carefree, yet also intensely hyperdramatic moments, while also finding joy in the bigger purpose, direction, and relative calm we experience now in our lives. •• But this view is permanent. It feels like stability, like home. Every coastline I sit on in Greece, overlooking the sea, sun and sky aligned in this way, brings me the same feeling, the same awe I’ve had since I was five. It connects me to something timeless in me and the world around me. •• Nothing like a grand gift of nature to remind you how little, delicate, and beautifully ephemeral life is in the grand scheme of things. Do good things, aspire for great things, but also remember to check your ego and never take yourself too seriously ❤️ . . . . . .
