Should you travel during COVID? Are you traveling during COVID?
••
The thought has been on my mind a lot this year. After some consideration, I decided I will get on a plane for family/work, but not fly for leisure travel in 2020. I have been taking my road trips for that.
••
Though the decision is highly personal, taking into account your personal risk, origin/destination, etc. travelers also need to respect the rules and protections set forth in the places they’re visiting. If someplace mandates a two week quarantine if you test positive, you need to be prepared for that chance. If a country wants you to self-isolate until you get test results, do so.
••
On the other hand, I’ve also seen some ignorance on the current data regarding plane travel, which so far hasn’t been linked to any super spreader events and has been shown to be quite safe if everyone is masked.
••
People who have no problem frequently attending 20-30 person gatherings in their hometown will criticize others for boarding a plane, when the data and risks don’t really back up that assessment.
••
I’m currently finishing up an article (and recording a video - YES I am finally going on with the YouTube channel) that I am trying to post by tomorrow on all the considerations involving travel during COVID, as well as my own international travel experience.
••
So tell me: are you traveling during COVID? If yes, how?
