Jessie on a Journey
The image captures a serene and lush tropical setting from the perspective of someone sitting on a balcony overlooking the Caribbean coast in Roatan, Honduras. In the foreground, a person's back is visible, wearing a blue tank top, their gaze directed outwards towards the stunning natural scenery. The balcony is surrounded by a dense canopy of vibrant green foliage, with sunlight filtering through the leaves, creating a warm and inviting ambiance. The verdant trees and plants appear to be a mix of palm trees and other tropical flora, adding to the idyllic Caribbean atmosphere. In the distance, glimpses of the turquoise waters of the Caribbean Sea can be seen, suggesting a breathtaking coastal view.

Roatan's Tropical Beauty Defies Preconceptions

Before coming to #Honduras, I always pictured there to be violence and crime at every corner. Actually, according to a 2014 Wall Street Journal article it's the "world's most dangerous country outside a war zone." Today, as I sit on my balcony at Posada Las Orquídeas in Roatan, staring out over lush #tropical flora at the #Caribbean coast nursing a slight rum hangover, I'm glad I've come to experience this place for myself despite the media attention focused on the bad. Luckily I've also got a local #IntrepidTravel guide who can show us these #beautiful places visitors may not know about or may be afraid to #visit. Have you ever visited a destination that surprised or initially scared you?
