Jessie on a Journey
A grand and ornate interior space, with a massive arched ceiling adorned with intricate details and painted in teal and golden hues. Tall arched windows stretch across one side, allowing natural light to stream in. The vast open floor is bustling with crowds of people walking about, some standing in groups conversing. The space exudes a sense of grandeur and architectural splendor, with a blend of classical and modern elements.

Grand Central Terminal's Ornate Interior

#GrandCentral is one of my favorite buildings in #NYC. Inspired by the ornate and colossal structures of Rome, the grand space is for all New Yorkers -- and visitors -- to enjoy regardless of status. It was originally opened in 1871 to house Cornelius Vanderbilt's New York Central Railroad, which featured steam locomotives. After a horrific accident in the early 90s involving passengers essentially being cooked alive from the steam, the city banned these trains and Vanderbuilt had a new station, with new modern trains, installed. The newer building we enjoy today opened in 1913, and today holds Landmark status.
