Exploring Outside the 303
A large fifth-wheel recreational vehicle and a pickup truck are parked on a remote desert or scrubland area, with a lone cow standing in front of them. The sky is a brilliant shade of blue, with a few wispy clouds visible. The scene appears to depict boondocking, an activity where RV enthusiasts park their vehicles in remote, off-grid locations for camping or extended stays.

Boondocking Lessons: Batteries, Power, and Backup

Boondocking Lesson Learned We attempted to boondock for a week outside Moab, but we only made it 4 nights. The location was great with cows that frequently visited and had great cell coverage. We were about 30 minutes outside of Moab and close to Arches National Park. This was our first attempt at bondocking in the 5th wheel and we learned a lot. Here are our 3 lessons learned: 🏕 Need different batteries 🏕 Actually calculate how much power we need 🏕 A backup if it's cloudy and snows The first 2 days we were fine but then we had 2 days of clouds and our batteries couldn't hold the charge from the solar panels. We calculated our power load, have ordered a few Lithium batteries to replace the gel batteries , and are adding another solar panel to give us 510W. I'll share more information about our setup once we get it installed. ❓What questions do you have about bondocking❓ @exploringoutsidethe303 @exploringoutsidethe303 @exploringoutsidethe303
