Mars ... on Earth. š If you havenāt seen the great Haleakala - the massive dormant volcano crater on Mauiās southeastern side - you are missing an experience out of this world. Pun, you say? Okay, maybe. š But thereās actually truth to that. In Hawaiian, the name means āhouse of the sun.ā āļø Legend has it that demigod Maui lassoed the sun from its summit to slow its orbit and lengthen the day. š Today, Haleakala is famous for being one of the top places on earth to watch a sunrise or sunset š
as it peaks above the clouds. In addition, its landscape shifts from red Mars-like desert sands and rocks to greenery and waterfalls, making it a wondrous sight. Ever wanted to visit another planet or feel inches from Heaven? āØ Haleakala National Park š (specifically the Visitorās Center) is where itās at! Want to take it to a whole new level? Take a helicopter tour š of the island like I did (shout out to @bluehawaiianhelicopters š¤), and catch it all on camera! šø #alohafilmsā
