Visiting Cenotes in Mexico: A Guide

Everything you need to know about visiting Cenotes in and around Tulum👇 📌 Save this post! You’ve probably heard of cenotes by now, but in case you haven’t, they’re natural sinkholes created where a cave ceiling collapsed. 💦 Though cenotes can be found around the world, the highest concentration of cenotes is found in Mexico, particularly the Yucatán Peninsula, where there are over 6000 cenotes. 😱 So visiting a cenote is an absolute must on your next trip to Mexico and here is how to find the best cenotes and avoid the crowds! ☺️ 🚗 RENT A CAR - renting a car allows you to drive to more remote cenotes in Quintana Roo / Yucatán and trust me you’re going to want to get to those cenotes because the ones close to Tulum are very crowded, touristic and expensive! 🕔 GO EARLY - especially if you decide to visit popular cenotes near Tulum, check the opening times online and plan to be there when the cenote opens! 🗣️ TALK TO LOCALS - some of the best advice I’ve been given on the road is from locals, they are from the area and they know best! Talk to locals for inside tips and recommendations for cenotes to visit that are off the beaten path/ less known and popular. Have you visited any cenotes yet or is this experience on your bucket list? Let me know if you’d add anything to this list! ❤️ —— #cenote #dosojos #dosojoscenote #yucatánescolor
