Plastic Pollution on a Pristine Zanzibar Sandbank

Welcome to Nakupenda Bis, arguably one of the most beautiful sandbanks you can visit in Zanzibar šŸ˜ As beautiful as it is, especially in these moments we captured when we had it all to ourselves thanks to the amazing guys @toujours_zanzibar, what I was shocked to discover was that there was plastic pollution and trash on it šŸ˜± I honestly felt terrible, and the thought of the tide coming in and this plastic returning to the ocean was even more disheartening. Fortunately, I met a local who was collecting it and with the help of @toujours_zanzibar, we managed to collect it all. It was crazy to me that so many people visiting the sandbank that day just ignored this plastic and rubbish. Iā€™ll never forget the localā€™s words when she told me: we canā€™t do it all, but we can do our part. So this is my hope for you: do your part! See a piece of plastic or garbage, pick it up. Join a local beach clean up, avoid single use plastic and so on. We might not be able to do it all, but we can do something, and that has to count right? Whatā€™s been the most surprising situation youā€™ve come across in your travels? Iā€™m curious! And/or - thoughts on how we can do better? Share to inspire āœØ P.S. If youā€™re heading to Zanzibar, be sure to reach out to @toujours_zanzibar for the most incredible, wholesome travel experiences. I couldnā€™t recommend them more šŸ«¶ ____
