Growing up in NJ, NYC was always ‘the city’ for me. Yet, I love being a tourist here…. minus the crowds! If that sounds like you, save this pocket guide for your next NYC adventure. 🥰
NYC Pocket Guide 🚕🌆
STAY
Book on @airbnb and consider the following neighborhoods:
• Williamsburg, Brooklyn
• Fort Greene Park, Brooklyn (my personal favorite area)
• Prospect Heights & Crown Heights, Brooklyn (both close to Prospect Park)
EAT
• Bagels and pizza are a must in NYC! 🥯🍕My personal favorite places are @bagelpub & @joespizzanyc
• Sam’s Falafel (downtown Manhattan near 1 World Trade Center)
• grab a bite @wholefoods and enjoy it in the park weather permitting 😉
• @jajajamexicana delish plant-based Mexican food
• @robertaspizza pizza is 10/10 😜 but another classic is @lbspumonigardens
• @screamerspizzeria is plant-based, creative and so good!
DO
• Walk across Tudor City Bridge for a beautiful view 👀
• Visit the New York Public Library & Bryant Park early in the day ☀️
• Go to Little Island: This is a new installation and popular with tourists. Go first thing in the morning to avoid the crowds and right before or after walk across the High Line 🌳
• Go to Central Park: early morning if you can, but really any time of day is fine because the park is so big!
• Visit Grand Central Station: Brace yourself for the crowds, but it’s cool to experience 🚇
• Relax in Elizabeth Street Garden: a public community green space 😍✨
• Take the cable car over to Roosevelt island for an epic view of the city from above, you can use your metro card so it’s just $2.75/ ride 🚠
• Explore DUMBO + Brooklyn Bridge Park: escape the crowds by walking along the water past Pebble Beach.
DON’T
• Forget to wear comfortable shoes, as you’ll be walking A LOT!
• Forget to bring a backpack to easily carry the things you bring/ buy (I love the Lifepack mini from @solgaard) and a refillable water bottle 🎒💦
• Forget to take rest breaks! Sounds obvious but it’s easy to forget in the city that never sleeps 🙈
