Exploring Puerto Viejo, Costa Rica's Caribbean Gem

Swipe for the beautiful colors and sights of the Caribbean coast of Costa Rica 🧡🦥🌿 Caribbean side or Pacific side? Which one should you visit? The short answer: visit both 🙂 From what I learned on my short 2.5 weeks in Costa Rica, there is so much diversity across the country and it’s best to visit different places and see for yourself what you like. Here are 5 of the best things to see and do in and around Puerto Viejo on the Caribbean side 🤗 🗂️| Save this post!
🚲 Rent a bike for $7 a day and bike up and down the palm-tree-lined roads of Puerto Viejo. Go slowly and pay attention to people stopped along the side of the road looking in the trees and bushes. Hint: 🦥 🐒 Go on a tour at the Jaguar Rescue Center. The Jaguar Rescue Center is a temporary or permanent home for ill, injured and orphaned animals. The tour is lovely, the guides are very passionate and share the animals stories. The public tour is at 9:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m and costs $24, which is a donation that goes directly back to the animals 🏝️Visit the nearby Cahuita National Park, which is about 30 min from Puerto Viejo by car. You can see a plethora of wildlife such as monkeys, sloths, birds and iguanas PLUS the park has stunning white sand beaches to relax on 😌 Such a lovely place! The park is free but they do ask for donations (your donations help keep the park open) 🌴 Go to Punta Uva. This beach is lovely and lined with palm trees. Definitely a nice place to relax and take it easy! Check the weather because we had a lot of rain when we visited, even in February. The mornings were especially cloudy and rainy, but it would often cleared up by the afternoon. ☀️ 🍴Eat @growpuertoviejo — amazing food right along the beach 🥰 go around sunset time 😉 Have you been to Puerto Viejo or anywhere else on the Caribbean side of Costa Rica?
