The Travel Mum Journey - Hard Work and Perseverance
The number of comments I get on TikTok implying I’ve some how stumbled upon a pot of money or had everything handed to me on a plate.. maybe João has loads of money to pay for all this, or maybe my family are rich and pay for everything - because assuming that I could have worked hard to have a this fabulous life just seems unthinkable to some.
I appreciate the privilege I have of being born into security, into a country with good education and endless opportunities, and I am grateful for the luck I’ve encountered along the way. But we didn’t have a lot growing up. I never had tutors or help with my exams - getting into medical school when you went to the secondary school that I went to wasn’t an easy feat - neither was getting through medical school. I set up the business that gives me my current lifestyle in between raising a newborn then toddler, studying (and passing first time) my post graduate surgical exams, and working full time during the pandemic… I don’t want to in any way brag, but I also want to let anyone implying that I don’t work hard know that respectfully, you are wrong ❤️ And maybe even inspire someone else to follow a similar path ✨
We all encounter little pockets of luck here and there - what we do next with that luck can potentially change our lives. For me it was one viral TikTok video at the start of the pandemic which has allowed me to build everything we now have with “The Travel Mum” 🙏🏻
