Safety First in Woodworking and Renovations

My husband and I have been woodworking and renovating for a few years now. We learned a lot of what we know from a retired woodshop teacher. He has a handful of sayings that often come up. But “safety first” is probably the most common. And for good reason! A month ago, I was sanding a piece of furniture when the table it was sitting on collapsed. The legs near me yanked two toes out of place as the table went flying. If I were wearing real shoes, those toes wouldn’t be broken. I wouldn’t be in pain, I wouldn’t have had to wear a walking boot for a month, and I would have been able to flip more furniture and not have had to slow down. It really is the pits, and the worst part is, I knew better. So I’m here to remind you, please wear safety gear so you can continue doing what you love!
