Reclaiming Wonders
The image depicts a young boy standing on a chair in front of an outdoor grill, cooking hot dogs. He is wearing a grey and white striped sweater and appears to be around 8-10 years old. In the background, another young boy, likely his younger brother, is watching nearby. The scene takes place in a backyard setting with trees and bushes visible. On a table next to the grill, there is a plate with cooked hot dogs, suggesting the older boy has been grilling and managing the cooking process independently. The image conveys a sense of independence and responsibility given to the older child in taking care of tasks like cooking for himself and his sibling.

Young Boy Grilling Hot Dogs Independently

Independence. Why push it? Because they can do it. And you need help sometimes. . Because when Mom and big sister have been isolated with the flu, he can manage the younger two on his own. Frozen chicken in the oven. Quesadillas. An egg feast. And how to turn on video games - that’s important ;) . . He just recruited little brother and they washed four days of pans that piled up while I’ve been in hiding. On his own. . . Yes, the kid is short and has to stand on a chair to reach, but he turned on the grill and managed the “gourmet” hot dogs from start to finish. Granted, I would have liked more supervision than Dad seemed to think was needed because... fire... . . So teach them. Push them. And let Dad push you when you’re being a little too “Mom-like”. Because they may just save the rest of you from getting sick. . . Now if only he would grow tall enough to be able to empty his clothes out of the washer... ;)
