Tips for Traveling with Teens
Want to travel with teens with less drama… and whining? 😉 ✈️🚙🌎
👉Here’s how. Top travel mom tips. 👈
(Note. Not a guarantee. But at least they won’t melt into a puddle like those fun toddler travel times 🤣🤣)
1️⃣🧭Put them in charge.
Give that whiny travel kid your phone and make them navigate. Maybe they’ll stop blaming you for bad directions… maybe.
2️⃣🎶Give them music. 🎶
My kids last a lot longer at a “boring” museum if they can listen to music. My kids often share a set air pods so they could listen to the same song together.
(This also had the added benefit of some sibling getting-along time as they sang their way through the streets of Europe... when they weren’t fighting over the songs, of course. 🙄)
3️⃣🍦Plan for special travel treats.🥤
Nothing makes a hot travel day better than grabbing a cold drink or ice cream. When it’s hot outside, we just move from cold treat to cold treat.
😉And fun mom needs it perhaps even more!
4️⃣👋Know when to move on.
When your kids eyes have glazed over or they’re saying they’re tired or bored (after a reasonable time), it’s okay to be done.
👉Everyone will suffer otherwise
5️⃣😴Plan for travel downtime.
Kids of any age (and their parents!) can’t keep going forever. Everyone needs to be allowed enough rest, play time, and alone time. Let them sleep in or cancel evening activities.
👉Sometimes a favorite Office rerun is just the family relaxing you need.
6️⃣Let them chase bubbles 😃
