Spontaneous Family Trip to Hawaii

Craziest thing we ever did ... ✈️🌺🏝️ ? January three years ago, the husband quit his job and got a new one. First job wasn’t happy and didn’t want him to work for his two weeks’ notice… Never one to waste a day off, he called me about the job situation and declared he was booking us a trip to Hawai’i. Ironically, the kids and I were driving home from a day trip to Chattanooga because I had declared that I needed a little trip. 😁 Two days later, we flew all six of us to Maui. It wasn’t a cheap trip. It wasn’t a well-researched trip. And it continues to be the family favorite. Three years ago today, I was driving the Road to Hana in a rented van. 🌋Crawling through lava tubes 🌴Seeing a wild hog at the garden 🌊Playing in black sand beaches 🦀Watching the kids and Dad chase crabs over lava rocks 💦Picking out waterfalls and flame trees 🍌Eating famous banana bread 🌺Climbing up trails for ocean views 🍍Sampling tropical fruit at the farm 🚙… and trying not to go off the edge of the curvy road. 🤩Quit being so predictable and just go. Pro tip: Let the husband make all the arrangements. Then you don’t realize just how recklessly expensive the trip was. 😂 More details in my “Road to Hana” collection on my IG feed. (Did you know those exist?) 👉👉👉Tell me your most spontaneous trip. I’ve got nothing going next weekend. 🤪 . . . . . .
