Reclaiming Wonders
A package of 6 free-range Scottish eggs by the brand Sainsbury's, sitting on a wooden surface alongside a red pen or marker. The egg carton is made of cardboard and has a green and white design featuring illustrations of eggs and the brand logo. The text on the carton indicates that the eggs are free-range and from Scotland. The eggs are not refrigerated, as is common practice in some countries. The hard shells of the eggs are mentioned as a positive sign of quality.

Scottish Eggs: Fresh, Free-Range, and Unrefrigerated

Learning about Scottish living... actually living in the country and adjusting to what they do differently instead of just stopping at ports on a cruise ship... It’s been a good experience. These eggs? They aren’t refrigerated on the shelf. There was one brand. They’re in cardboard. They’re free range. And they weren’t crazy expensive. And their shells were really hard... I take that as a good sign. There were only two packages of “minced meat” aka hamburger meat at the grocery store. I needed three for my American beef obsession ;). They had one kind. It’s beautiful and red and makes very little grease and cheaper than US. And we watched a UK food show taking about beef... they don’t allow the big mass produced corn finished beef like in the US... this is mostly grass fed and it’s standard. The food labels state the facts. M was noticing how it’s all real words... Not the chemical junk she usually can’t pronounce. Do you think she’s watched me do it a few times in the past? ;) Why do we have to make things so difficult? If the UK can manage it... and we have tons more land to do it than they do... why can’t my country? Stepping off soap box...
