Raising Awareness: Indian Boarding Schools and Orange Shirt Day

Let’s remember and teach our kids. ❤️ I learned about Indian Boarding Schools several years ago through kid books. As more information has been uncovered about the truths of the history of these schools, it is ever more important for us to remember and push for change. Orange Shirt Day started in Canada because of a First Nations woman with a true story about her childhood. It now has been given an official name and is recognized as a national holiday—- all because someone saw the need and wrote a kid’s book. 🇨🇦✔️Residential schools 🇨🇦✔️National Day for Truth and Reconciliation 🇺🇸 ✔️Indian Boarding Schools 🇺🇸 ..… Lets’s change this! Perhaps by bringing the conversation into our homes, we are raising the generation to make even more impact.
