Reclaiming Wonders
The images depict a nocturnal armadillo, a type of armored mammal, burrowing and moving along a dirt path in a wooded area at night. The armadillo's tough, banded shell and long snout are clearly visible as it navigates through the leaf litter and undergrowth. The setting appears to be a dimly lit forest trail or hiking path, with vegetation and foliage surrounding the armadillo.

Nocturnal Armadillo Encounter on Hiking Trail

Do you see this? Isn't he awesome?!! Pretty sure the highlight of our trip. We stopped in the way out to check out the observatory and saw this guy burrowing along the path right next to us. And he didn't run away from our lights. You might say we stalked him for about five minutes until he got off the path. Did you know you can see them not as roadkill?! I'm guessing he's a nine banded armadillo. You can count them in my picture. The kids kept a running mental tally of their animals including deer, huge alligators, a snake!, and lightening bugs. Making good use of my laminated nature books on our butterflies, flowers, and birds.
