Missing Michelangelo's Pieta in Rome
You may need to hear this. Guess which European treasure my kid wants to (trying to) peek at!? 🎨🖌️🇮🇹
Picture this. You’re in Rome.
It was the last day of the family trip.
And getting into the Vatican Museums had been the most frustrating (and expensive!) Europe trip ticket to buy.
❌It’s a must-see Rome destination, and you almost miss it because this travel mom had bad info!
You rush over to St. Peter’s Basilica from the museums to get in before it closed at 6:30.
(A different entrance without a back passage from the Sistine Chapel!)
Then you rush into St. Peter’s Cathedral
Turn right where you know you’ll see it…
❌And then see a big fence out
Saying Michelangelo’s Pieta is
⁉️…Somewhere else being restored??
Why did this travel planning mom not see this info anywhere during my Rome trip planning??
👉So here I am. Saying it.
🛑If your kid wrote a paper about this Michelangelo sculpture and expects to see the Pieta… 🤷♀️
Sorry, Charlie.
At least we saw the Sistine Chapel.
And for what’s it worth,
She couldn’t see anything even peeking in.
But at least this homeschool kid got to be a tiny bit nerd rebellious. 🤣🤓
✅Rome tip:
Make sure you head over to Peter in Chains to see Michelangelo’s Moses. It’s more impressive anyway and way less crowded.
👉👉Share this with that friend who is traveling to Italy soon!
And make sure you do better research than me! 😉
