It is described as 'JFK's Secret Service Agents Break Their Silence' and features a photograph of Kennedy waving to a crowd from his presidential limousine. The book on the right is a novel by Stephen King titled '11/22/63', with the tagline 'The New York Times Bestseller' and a smaller tagline that reads 'The Acclaimed #1 National Bestseller'. The cover features a newspaper headline announcing 'JFK Slain in Dallas, LBJ Takes Oath', along with an image of the presidential limousine carrying Kennedy and his wife Jackie moments before the fatal shots were fired.

Homeschool Mom Embraces Historical Fiction

In my circle of homeschool people, I often feel like the only one not reading only 100 year old books or only pretending books for their kids or even “allowing” myself fun books. And I have a hunch there are more of us in this closet of reading habits ;) Speak up! . Homeschoolers especially don’t read Stephen King. Gasp! And, granted, horror is not my thing, so I usually don’t. But 11/22/63 is a semi-historical fiction that I had seen on many books lists. And so good. . So then the questions I had from that, led me to read this memoir of JFK’s secret service agents, and it was fascinating. And I’m still podcasting and internet researching... . I listened to a podcast once upon a time that said historical fiction isn’t good and shouldn’t be used for teaching inaccuracies to our children. So I’ve been known to question giving them to my kids. . Now? I’m over it. If given and discussed and eyes are opened and questions asked, I can’t imagine a better way to dive into history. . I’m a homeschool rebel. Deal with it ;)
