Historic Church of the Holy Rude in Stirling
#churchoftheholyrude in #stirlingscotland is only the second active church in the UK to have been the location for a coronation - James VI, infant son of Mary Queen of Scots.
The kids donāt like churches and cemeteries at all and grumble the whole time. Too bad because Mom and Dad do! At least M reads the engravings and reports back on how sad life was at the time. I like to read about their jobs and the long epitaphs about how amazing they were. And, if nothing else, remind the kids that these were real people that need to be respected and who mattered to someone... This church had a section of panels discussing The Protestant Reformation and the changing translation of the Bible at the time. Tyndale was executed for his translation efforts?! My recent studies of English monarchy have taught me more about the Reformation than ever before... and it keeps coming up on our trips. Good thing I did all those podcasts ;)
