Exploring Stirling Castle's Grandeur
#stirlingcastle is probably my favorite castle I’ve been to... but I really think that’s because I have pegs of knowledge to make it stick. Because let’s face it, all the kings had very similar names making it very difficult to retain anything. At this castle, they each added their own parts which meant it looks like a hodgepodge of colors and textures... all in an effort to impress other people.
We walked through Mary de Guise’s chambers and saw where little Mary (to be Queen of Scots) would have spent time with her mom. The chapel built specifically for Mary’s son, James VI’s son’s baptism (Mary’s grandson)... and discussed why a boy’s birth at the time would have been a cause for celebration... And it was significantly less crowded than our other tourist towns and sights... yea!
