Hiking and Art Amid Natural Beauty

This is what twelve looks like. Twelve going on sixteen. . . When you sprain your ankle carrying a kayak and have to sit out the next day’s hike, you take yourself and mom on a short hike back to the waterfall. You know what you love and have a backpack full of art supplies. So we sit. In silence. And you decide that you don’t need another sunburn (bad mistake the day before), so we go back to the tent. Where you read the current tome. . . You took a five hour nap today. Camping must be hard. And being around loud siblings. Introverts unite. I get it. Why not sleep when you can? . . And with all confidence, you sing your Broadway heart through a card game with Memma - no hesitation or caution. Listen to a family read aloud of Mrs. Piggle Wiggle. And offer up your prayer before bed. . . A mixture of child and too much grown-up independence. I’m so thankful for a lifestyle that allows the travel and the rest and the hours spent developing passions. I’ll focus on these instead of angsty outbursts that break through at times ;)
