Hike Blood Mountain on the Appalachian Trail
Hike Georgia’s highest Appalachian Trail section… just check out that view! ⛰️🥾🎒
🌟My husband declared it his second favorite hike ever! That’s saying something.
Blood Mountain soars to 4,458 feet. Let’s hike the 6 mile loop.
{Save this hike for your Georgia adventure!}
🍂Head north toward Blairsville, Georgia
🍁Stop for potty and supplies at the Mountain Crossings store at Neel Gap (such a cool, historic place!) @mountaincrossings
🍂Park at the trailhead and start the Byron Reece trail
🍁Intersect with the Appalachian Trail
Stop at the top for an amazing view and your picnic lunch
🍂Take a potty stop at the privy at the historic AT shelter
🍁Continue the AT until reaching the loop back at the Freeman Trail
🍂Head back down the Byron Reece trail to your car
❗️This is a “technical” hike.
There will be a ton of rocks to climb up and down. This isn’t a gentle slant.
👉That doesn’t mean you can’t do it.
Bring your hiking poles and go slow if needed. Remember, your kids can do more than you think!
If you’re not up to that many miles, hike up to the peak and retrace your steps in about four miles.
Make sure you download the map on AllTrails! With the leaves on the ground, we almost lost the trial once. It’s essential!
👉Tell me your faveorite hike ever below. I need to check out this competition. 😉
