Reclaiming Wonders
The image consists of two parts. The left side shows an outdoor area with a road, grass, and trees. There is a brown sign that reads 'FORKS OF THE ROAD HISTORICAL SITE' with a North Carolina logo below, indicating that this is a historical site related to the forks of the road in North Carolina. Two people can be seen on the road, an adult wearing a blue top and a child wearing a pink top, suggesting they may be visiting the historical site. The right side of the image shows a close-up view of shackles or chains embedded in the ground, resembling the shackles used to restrain enslaved people during the era of slavery. The shackles appear to be rusted and partially buried in the sandy soil.

Forks of the Road Slave Market Memorial

It doesn't look like much but this was the site of the second largest slave market in the country. Memorialized today with signs and some center shackled in the ground. I don't think I was ready to fully tackle Slavery this trip but hard not to traveling in the South. Meg has been reading the last names trying to figure out who they might have belonged to... She saw Washington and started thinking. She has been grabbing this notebook of her own accord to "wrote some stuff down" but she gets so busy she forgets about it ;)
