Exploring the Mojave Desert's Joshua Tree Forest

After reading about the fires north of Flagstaff, I rethought our plans to not involve Flagstaff but to stop in Williams instead for our Grand Canyon day. . I asked the kids if they would rather spend an extra two hours in the car to be able to say they went to California and the Mojave Desert - it was unanimous. . And so we saw the largest forest of Joshua Trees in the world, watched a video, saw sand dunes and cool boulder-mountain things, desert tortoises, and lots of different colors of brush. Makes it pretty in the subtle differences. . And, yes, I rethought the trip several times. Hot, less traffic, no cell signal... what if something happens... but that stubborn perseverance won out. And weā€™re glad we went... although it would have been better to get to the hotel earlier. .
