Exploring Mesa Verde's Cliff Dwellings
Mesa Verde took some convincing, but half of the kids eventually decided to like it... The big ones anyway. Kind of like an “I spy” book as they hunted for the cliff dwellings in the canyons. The littles just couldn’t find the houses in the distance. .
I thought I had the day figured out... but didn’t. Didn’t know we would drive 45 minutes before getting to ruins... on a windy mountainous road. Didn’t know to do the far loop first so the kids weren’t ready to go by the time we finally got there. Didn’t know to wait and just go to the far museum instead of getting out at the first center. .
This was almost a giant long drive that ended in failure, but we managed to redeem it and do some junior ranger badges and see some really cool ruins. .
Even if the little kids stayed in the car during the second car loop and eventually I just stopped trying and left...
.
We sang our #classicalconversations Song and made some links to the pegs they already had made - made it more significant. And listened to #thependerwicks while we drove around.
