Exploring FDR's Little White House
Pop quiz: What US president came from Georgia? 🍑
Bet you didn’t say FDR! (Yes, Carter was the correct answer too 😂)
When Franklin Delano Roosevelt was afflicted by polio, he wanted warm springs to soothe his legs. Warm Springs, Georgia fit the bill, and the Little White House was born. He came down as often as possible, and the people loved him.
The kids and I have read picture books about him and Eleanor. Such amazing people who did so much. A field trip was needed!
Dive into history: WW2, the Great Depression, Polio, CCC, Black History… We even saw our old friends Booker T Washington and George Washington Carver. I love when history ties it all together. ❤️❤️❤️
It’s close to lovely gardens and state parks and mountain climbing. There’s so much to discover in southwest Georgia.
👉Save this for your next trip and go! (It does cost a bit, but it’s worth it)
