Exploring Family History in a Cemetery

Mr. Wellborn’s epitaph read that he “labored faithfully with dauntless courage and steadfast convictions”... Wouldn’t that be the best life motto ever? History at the doorstep of your car after eating a taco... When your kid asks to go look at the little family cemetery, you should always say yes. . We examined the grave of a man who had been a teenage Confederate soldier, discussed possible family connections, examined dates and compared to history at that time, looked at changing the spelling of the last name, possible death in childbirth... . History and lessons are all around us. We just have to open our eyes. And respecting a random cemetery sounds like a good way to start.
