Exploring Capulin Volcano National Monument

Another first... walking down into an (extinct) volcano at #capulinvolcanonationalmonument east of Raton, New Mexico. Another #npsjuniorranger badge under our belt as we looked out at the volcano field and learned about cinder cones. Itā€™s amazing how all this green is now growing where once only ash and volcano bombs lived. . The kids were pretty impressed to look out over the landscape and see all the volcanoes everywhere... while brother excitedly narrates about the pronghorn antelopes because everything he knows is from #wildkratts ! . We might have sung our #classicalconversations song about volcano types. Maybe ;) . Did you know Mew Mexico has more volcanic structures than anywhere else in North America? And the pronghorn is the second fastest land animal only after a cheetah? .
