Reclaiming Wonders
A young blonde woman with long, wavy hair is intently reading a book. She is sitting at a table in what appears to be a fast food restaurant or cafe. Her black t-shirt with white text is visible as she leans over the open book in front of her. Through the window behind her, trees and a parked car can be seen outside, indicating an outdoor seating area. The woman seems completely absorbed in her reading, oblivious to her surroundings.

Encouraging Kids to Read

So my summer goal for the summer? Get my kids to love reading more and to show Meghan that there are books outside of Harry Potter for her to get excited about. And read that shelf of books in her room. In the last couple of week she has read The Mixed of Files of Mrs basil Frankweiler, all of the Princess Academy trilogy (don’t be turned off by the fluffy name), and she is now working on Percy Jackson. And sneaking in some nights staying up to midnight while we aren’t aware all in the name of reading. In her begging for me to give her the last of the Princess trilogy, I was presented with a letter detailing how awesome the books were and the list of ten books she promised to read if given the last installment. He letter was my idea. The list of ten was her excitement and desperation... And here we are at ChikFila with her book while the others play... ;) headed to check out our new library because Cooper is having a “I must read Magic Tree House in order” emergency.
