Embracing the Identity of a Hiker
“The ultimate form of intrinsic motivation is when a habit becomes part of your identity. It’s one thing to say I’m the type of person who wants this. It’s something very different to say I’m the type of person who is this.”

Truth.
The minute our spring hiking trip was over, all of my motivation left. Life got busy with schedules changing and traveling etc.
And then… summer heat. And I hide inside.
Mostly, I need a reason to prioritize moving.
I’m a very good movement conservationist.
Ha!😂🛌🥱
So, I’m trying to look forward to a fall hike.
👉Working on my identity to take the steps to be a hiker… Again.
How I want to see myself.
“Every action you take is a vote for the type of person you wish to become. No single instance will transform your beliefs, but as the votes build up, so does the evidence of your new identity… Small habits can make a meaningful difference by providing evidence of a new identity. And if a change is meaningful, it is actually big.”

It was the first thing I truly bought for my hiker self.
Not only did I haul it over mountains.
I put it up by myself. Once in the rain.
🤩That makes me a hiker!
Here’s to making good choices to push me toward that goal.
❓What’s your mid-year goal?
