Reclaiming Wonders
A wholesome family scene unfolds in a cozy living room setting. A middle-aged man with glasses sits on a sofa, surrounded by three young children, two boys and a girl, who are gathered close to him. A small, tan dog is perched contently on the man's lap. The group is engaged in reading a large, festive hardcover book titled 'Merry Christmas, Curious George,' which the man holds open before them. The room is warmly decorated with framed artwork on the walls and a burning fireplace in the background, lending a homely and inviting atmosphere. The image captures a heartwarming moment of family bonding and the simple joys of sharing beloved stories during the Christmas season.

Embracing Imperfect but Heartwarming Christmas Moments

To the real-life Moms out there: . You’re not the only one out there not having beautiful little crafts and homemade gingerbread houses. It’s okay! Even if it’s just you and me against the rest of the world ;) . . I wrapped the Christmas books a couple of days ago to unwrap and read. Instead we’ve been watching movies and reading our regular books. If you want even more honesty, we don’t even read books all cuddled up every evening... or day... Thus, the cutesy wrapped books haven’t happened... Yet. . . And half the kids have made a Christmas craft. Straight from the half off craft section at Hobby Lobby. Not homemade. Not all gathered sweetly around the table. I wasn’t even the room for most of it. They currently have festive pipe cleaners strewn all over the floor. Very crafty. . . And my oldest baked today. Regular old banana bread. Not even a Christmas sprinkle. . . We have a tree they decorated how they wanted. The youngest wears a Santa hat sometimes. The fireplace is roaring. And we read our Jesus story during morning time Monday thru Friday. And that’s our Christmas. It’s okay. Repeat to myself: it’s enough. . . You’re doing enough. No elfs or freshly strung dried oranges needed. If you are doing them, I love your pics and keep it up. If you aren’t... welcome to the slacker Christmas Mom club ;)
