DC's Tidal Basin Loop: More Than Just Lincoln Memorial

Let’s plan your fall family trip to Washington DC! 🚙🇺🇸🏛️ ‼️Don’t overlook those “other” monuments near the DC National Mall. 🇺🇸Lincoln. Everyone sees him. Seriously. Everyone. It was the most crowded place in Washington, DC. Start here and see the also-crowded Vietnam Wall, but keep going… Push yourself for the whole two-mile Tidal Basin Loop. 🇺🇸Korean War Memorial - This famous landscape of the soldiers moving through the field is so lovely. It is so moving. 🇺🇸Martin Luther King, Jr. - Read the quotes and see the giant likeness. It’s very impressive. . . 🇺🇸Franklin D. Roosevelt - With several different panels, learn about President Roosevelt’s life, works, and quotes as you move through this memorial. It isn’t as tall and imposing as the others, but it’s still beautiful. 🇺🇸Jefferson. You can start from the other direction, and see Washhis domed memorial without the full loop. It’s such a beautiful building especially at night. Looking across the Tidal Basin also gives a beautiful view toward the Washington Monument. If you’re in DC in spring, this is where those beautiful cherry blossoms are blooming. The walk around the Tidal Basin was more peaceful than the other DC monuments, and we found some of our favorite US history heroes. But my kids favorite part of the concrete path? Looking at all the electric scooters that had fallen in the lake. It’s the simple things. 😃 ✋Of note, some parts of this trail have no railing and can get muddy. Watch those little kids! 👉👉Save this for your DC trip and feel free to ask me any questions! . . . 📍Washington DC family trip; Nov 2023. . . . .
