Barrier Island Beach Exploration
If you’re ever stranded on an island and no one responds to your SOS, it’s because my children have left false ones all over places they’ve explored ;)

We only had an hour on this nature preserve barrier island off the coast of Charleston (and could have used hours to explore), but it was a great hour. Because of its reserve status, we couldn’t gather shells but did see lots of partial sand dollars - my first!

The kids mostly wanted to explore the very, very slowly sloped ocean and were annoyed I didn’t let them do that the whole time. There was a turtle nest to see, a boneyard of eroded beach and trees, and a long, wide beach to explore.

So good. So different than residential beaches. Nature untouched. Good trip.
