Reclaiming Wonders
A smiling older woman with short blonde hair and glasses is assisting a young toddler boy with drinking from a cup at what appears to be a church or other place of worship. The little boy is wearing a blue t-shirt with a rocket ship design and is standing between the woman's legs, leaning in close as she helps guide the cup to his mouth. Their faces are mere inches apart, indicating a warm and nurturing bond between them, likely a grandmother and her grandson. The background is slightly blurred but shows wooden pews or chairs, suggesting a church setting.

A Child Grows Up Too Quickly

People said it would happen. I didn’t believe them. “They grow up way too quickly.” I didn’t listen. My littlest stands in front of me at church when we stand up to sing. He squeezes between me and the back of the seats in front of me. It’s his cozy spot. He’s done it as long as I can remember. ❤️ Sometimes he sits by Dad, who doesn’t know the routine, and I catch the kid looking down at me. And I wave him over. I know the routine. But, dang it!😥 This last Sunday, his shoulders seemed about four inches higher than last time. No longer can I rest my hands on his shoulders. Now my elbows are closer. He’s my life clock. 🕰️ When he was born, I stopped working full time. I pulled the kids out of school and day care. I started actually having time to be with them. He is how I mark this at-home, homeschool mom part of my life. And he’s turning nine next month. ✋Hold tight to those babies. ✋Take time to cuddle. ✋Quit being so busy. ✋Reprioritize. Someone should have told me years ago. Or I should have listened better. 👉Share this with a friend (or yourself) who needs a reminder. 🙋‍♀️ ❤️Bobbie . . .
