Arabia Mountain's Red Diamorpha Blooms
God paints Georgia red for a couple of weeks a year when the endangered diamorpha on Arabia Mountain emerge from the empty pits on the surface of the rock. We don’t have to travel far to see the beauty. just have to change the viewpoint and our lens. Look for wonder and it’s there.

This monadnock is my favorite place to be reminded that proper nature study means going back to the same place over and over again to mark the changes.

Next month they will bloom as little white flowers. Later, other wildflowers and yellow daisies take over. Sometimes, it just looks like empty gravelly holes —- but this right here is why we don’t step on the pits even when they look dead.

There’s probably something deep there. Beauty comes from the dirt? The ugliness of life is only part of inner growth?

Either way. So... cool! Especially with friends frolicking over rocks and adventuring together ;)
