Appreciating Art at the Museum
When I’m in charge of the world’s art museums... I’m going to find all kids who are truly loving and examining art and encourage them. Tell them how proud I am of them for coming and enjoying themselves. Mention how I can tell they know how to (mostly) behave and ask what their favorite art museum has been. Engage them so they want to keep looking.

To today’s docents, thank you for not hovering when you heard my kids pop out and scare each other at the bathroom. Or when the littles found every bench to play rock, paper, scissors while laying all over each other. Or when they might have gotten a bit too close but do know not to touch the paintings in their evaluations. And especially for not babysitting every room like in most art museums.

The barefoot six year old sitting with his sister on the bench had conquered much more temptations than just keeping his shoes on without them dropping off to the ground. If only you knew the accomplishment to just keep them on walking around ;)

Here’s to a couple of free hours hanging out with our friends at the Chrysler Art Museum: Lichtenstein, Picasso, Renoir, Cassatt, and Degas to name a few.
