Climbing Safety Habits to Avoid Injury

Have you picked up any of these habits? 🧗 While there’s not always a huge risk, some of these can lead to painful or very serious injuries! 1. Keeping long hair down: long hair can easily get caught in your harness, ropes, carabiners or anything else around your waist 2. Grabbing onto the rope: this isn’t inherently dangerous when you’re slowly lowering in the gym, but if you develop the habit of grabbing it instinctually, you run the risk of slamming your hand into the wall, or other various injuries when your arms should otherwise be tucked in or facing out to protect you from the wall 3. Ah the safety check: I haven’t been climbing that long and the amount of times the belayer isn’t locked in is crazy! Idk about you but even after I tie in, I can chat for 15 minutes before i get in the wall, which can def distract either party. You may skip a loop, forget to lock off your carabiner or something else. A solid 3 second safety check can save a life Want to learn how to safely climb outside with a guide in Fort Collins?
