How to Properly Fit Your Backpacking Pack

How to fit your backpacking pack to your body! Here’s what I learned from a professional at REI: 🔸make sure you get the right length (I’ll do a part 2 on how to measure) 🔹loosen all the straps 🔸find your hip bones in front and follow them along to the side - this is where the middle of your hip straps should go! 🔹next, tighten those straps so the buckle is in the middle 🔸tighten the shoulder straps so the top of the straps and pack are flush with your body 🔹finally tighten the straps at the tippy top that start under the brain 🔸make sure you weigh it down and walk around to see if it’s comfortable Bonus pro tip: it’s ok to adjust these throughout your day when backpacking to make sure you don’t carry all your weight on the same body parts for too many hours.
